GENERAL INFORMATIONUniversity PreSchool is an incorporated not-for-profit institution. All funds earned by the school are re-invested in the school, located in a country setting at 10715 W. Betz Road, Cheney. A Board of Directors who supervises a paid Director governs us. PURPOSEOur purpose is to provide quality Preschool and Pre-K programs for the children of the West Plains area. Our programs benefit the development of the child as a whole by encouraging social, emotional, physical and intellectual growth. University PreSchool also serves as a laboratory setting for the education of EWU students. PHILOSOPHYOur school philosophy emphasizes childhood as a time of intentional learning through play, exploration and discovery. Our highly qualified staff strives to nurture and encourage creative and receptive qualities in the children who attend. STAFF QUALIFICATIONSAll classes are supervised by a Washington State certified teacher who possesses at least a four-year degree in early childhood education. Our professional staff is selected for their early childhood education training, teaching experience, and sensitivity to the needs of young children and their families. We maintain a low student-to-teacher ratio of ten to one for all programs in order to ensure each child gets the individual attention they need. ENROLLMENTUniversity PreSchool is open to all children regardless of race, creed, sex, national origin or religion. Children with special needs will be admitted based upon available resources and with the concurrence of the Teacher, Director, and the Board of Directors. All children must be at least three (3) years of age as of September 1 and potty trained to attend. Our classrooms are normally of mixed age groups. SCHEDULEWe follow the same academic schedule as EWU and offer both morning and afternoon sessions when we have appropriate numbers. Our morning preschool session for children ages 3 to 5 begins at 8:00 am and ends at 11:30 am. Our afternoon pre-kindergarten session for children 4 to 5 begins at 12:30 p.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m.. We do not offer wrap-around childcare over the lunch period. However, we do help coordinate transportation from our facility to local childcare facilities. REGISTRATION/TUITION FEESA $40 non-refundable annual registration fee is payable when you enroll your child. Tuition is based upon the actual costs of operation the school and is due quarterly. A quarter lasts 12 weeks. All school supplies, field trips, snacks, group photos, and incidentals are included in the tuition fees. Please see the registration form for the tuition fees. We will gladly make arrangements for monthly payments without interest at your request.
